Measure from the center of the eye to the center bolt both directions following the curve of the material.  Count the number of leaves and measure the stack height at the center bolt.  Identify the type of eye and bushing.  To measure the arch use a straight edge to mark the center of the eye and measure the arch at the center bolt.  Rear spring with torque leaf measure the torque leaf from the center of the eye to the center bolt.

How to measure U-Bolts

When measuring, “A” is inside width between the legs of the U-bolt and “B” is the measured length from inside top of the bend to the bottom of the U-Bolt.  Also will need the diameter of the U-bolt and what type of top.

U-Bolt Torque Chart  Do Not Re-Use U-Bolts

All values below are general guidelines.  The OEM service manual on specific models always takes precedence over values shown.  U-bolts that have been torqued to a set preload are recommended to be re-torqued after a short time to take-up the stretch in the set of the material.  U-bolts must be tightened and torqued using a cross pattern.

Suggested Torque Values for Cold-formed U-Bolts with a light oil finish.
